The kitchen renovation got a little stressful one week (one week out of 7 wasn't bad!), and we were facing down a weekend with workers sanding and painting to stay on schedule, so we decided to escape to the Wisconsin Dells for one night / two days. Since it was a last minute decision - I was booking this on Friday afternoon sitting at LaGuardia airport in New York waiting to fly home from a business trip - our first choice of joining friends at at volleyball tournament at The Wilderness was sold out. But we got a room at Great Wolf Lodge and were thrilled for a relaxing getaway. We later realized that William has mostly outgrown Great Wolf. He had such fond memories of going in Kansas City about 5 years ago. We hadn't really considered he's nearly 13 now. But, regardless, it was such a great idea to get out of the mess of the construction and spend some time together. My favorite may have been the Chinese restaurant we ordered carryout from on Saturday night. They had one of the best vegetables with garlic sauces I've had. And it was literally in the parking lot of Great Wolf next to the gas station.
