The boys have less than a month until they rank up from Webelos to Arrow of Light to round out their Cub Scout career. One of the final requirements was to plan a hike and walk it. What could have been a warm spring day turned out to be 34 degrees and 4-inches of blowing snow. However, 6 boys, two adult sponsors (including me!) and one teenage sister suited up in snow pants and winter coats and hats and gloves and enjoyed the peaceful scenery on our 3 mile walk. We even saw 7 deer!
In case you were wondering, walking three miles in the snow with 9 and 10 year old boys takes 90 minutes. The same route in the spring with a workout buddy would take 40-45 minutes!
